What I’m Learning

I work on various technologies. Here’s some of what I’m learning day-in-and-out.

23 Jul 2024—It’s been a GeneratePress month thus far. I have used GeneratePress to build two websites, one Spiderz.com (our new site at Spiderz) and the other, YasserMasood.com (this site). Using GeneratePress is a breeze in comparison to any page builder. I’ve been using Elementor for the past few years but it’s only become clunkier and I’ve given up using it. GeneratePress is wonderful, for one, it’s real quick to work with. Pages open super fast when editing and once you get a hang of things like Elements and the other GenerateBlocks plugin from the same publisher, getting stuff done is easy. If you’re curious, I do use GeneratePress Premium and have built several sites using it. I’m still not entirely convinced to get a license for GenerateBlocks, yet. So the free GenerateBlocks blocks work just fine for me. I have let my Elementor Expert (1000 sites license) expire. And I don’t see why you shouldn’t too.

6 Apr 2024—All done and earned a cert for the Fundamentals of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 course. Things got busy in March so had to rush in the end. Here’s the cert for all to see.

1 Feb 2024—I’m half way through the Fundamentals of RHEL 9 course. It’s a brilliant course I must say. To test and learn RHEL 9 I’ve setup a virtual machine using UTM on my Mac. It runs smoothly, with no hiccups at all. I’ve also left it running a times without any kind of load experienced by my M1 MacBook Air. This week I’ve also been toying with an events plugin, The Events Calendar, for WordPress that I intend to use for a client project.

15 Jan 2024—I’ve just signed up for the Fundamentals of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 course at Coursera. I’ve purchased the course so that I get a certificate at the of the program. You can always learn for free at Coursera by choosing to Audit (simply login and learn) courses. I plan to finish the course in the next three weeks. It’s a great start for beginners, which by any means, I am NOT! 😆
